MAKE A BIRD Discuss:

  • How did you feel during the process
  • What steps did you go through to figure out what to do?
  • Did you copy off other people?
  • Did you feel confused or anxious?
  • How did you know when you were finished?
  • How did you chose the best one?
  • What were the criteria you used to judge?
  • Did you think about all of those when you started making your bird?
  • What could have helped you make the best bird?

Part 7: Redesign a unit

Goal: this unit should be one where students can create a unique finished product

Brainstorm: can you break this unit into stages?

  • Stage 1: Inquire & Analyse: can be seen as research, have students explore, discover, experiment with the content (no lecture), explore examples of the finished product
  • Stage 2: Developing Ideas: can be seen as structuring research, organizing content, planning finished product, creating a timeline, develop criteria lists
  • Stage 3: creating the finished product: student centered work time
  • Stage 4: evaluating: reflection & feedbackPut each stage on a post it note and organize into Design cycle stagesComplete the APLE unit planning template
